Victorian Government Training Initiative - LPG Training

* Please Note 22/9/06 - All government subsidised training places have been allocated. Please direct all enquires to the TAFE's listed below.

The Victorian Government has announced an initiative designed to cut installation delays by providing training for qualified Motor Mechanics wishing to become accredited in LPG installations and servicing.

Applicants having acceptable trade qualifications must complete the following modules from

  • AUR 30605, Certificate 111 in Automotive Specialist - Gas Vehicle.
  • AURT304231A Install LPG Fuel Systems AURT304266A Repair LPG Fuel Systems
  • AURT304270A Service LPG Fuel Systems

or Liquid Petroleum Gas Tuning, Maintenance and Installation Course - TAFE Stream No 4200 EKF will be acceptable for LPG accreditation applications until 31 December, 2006.

The training course must be completed with a duly authorised Training Provider and the training provider must provide proof of completion. The following trade qualifications are acceptable to the AAFRB:

Motor Mechanic

  • VACC Motor Mechanic
  • Diesel Mechanic
  • Heavy Stream Mechanic
  • Auto electrician
  • IAME Associate/Member

The training costs for the above courses are being met by the State Government, however, a student tuition fee may be charged by the training provider.

Once training in one of the approved course is complete you will then need to apply for individual accreditation with the AAFRB. Application forms are available for download from http://www.aafrb.com.au/trade.aspx
